The clutch side is available with a hydraulic master cylinder or a mechanical version for cable operated clutches. Note: TüV approved Comet hand and forward controls come with a small fluid window to monitor brake fluid level. Brake fluid Compatible with DOT-4 and DOT-5.1 Note safety Note Master cylinder pumping capacity Some handlebar master cylinders, like the stock master cylinder as used on XR1200 models for instance, have inadequate brake fluid pumping capacity to fully engage the brakes, when used in combination with some large af- termarket brake calipers. Especially a dual caliper set-up, with multi-piston calipers, will hold a lot of brake fluid. All this fluid must be moved before the brakes can engage. When the stroke & bore of the master cylinder piston is incapable to move all brake fluid, you will not be able to engage the brakes fully. A very serious situation. Know what you are doing when working on brakes, your life is on the line! If you have any doubt, check your dealer for professional advice. Master cylinder fluid capacity When brake pads wear down, the brake fluid level in your master cylinder will decrease. When you've installed another master cylinder, brake caliper(s), or both, bear in mind that you will have no working brakes when the brake fluid level becomes too low. Therefore, in custom applications, make sure the master cylinder capacity is large enough to compensate for worn down brake pads.
