The total area of the brake pads in 2 calipers is twice as large and there will be more friction on the brake disc compared with a single caliper. This is why dual discmodels generally have larger master cylinder bores; the applied pressure is high enough. Single disc models generally use smaller master cylinder pistons to increase the pressure that is applied to the brake caliper piston.
