JIMS, primary lock bar
A primary lock bar is key in locking the primary drive system on Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. JIMS® lock bars are made from aircraft quality steel and plated in black oxide for corrosion resistance. The length of the bar is designed for solid engagement in-between the engine compensating sprocket and clutch sprocket. Locking the primary drive is required for a wide range of service work including changing or removing the compensator nut; changing the primary chain; chain tension adjustment; changing the stator; removing the clutch hub nut and general clutch maintenance.
