Engines are supplied in natural aluminum finish with chrome plated billet rocker covers. Note: Additional parts required *The S&S XL Sportster and Buell style Long Blocks do not include drive train components. Engine builder must supply all transmission and shifting parts, all clutch and primary parts, and primary cover. Crankcases have 1986-1990 (4-speed) style cam geometry, but crankcases have the 91-03 style drive side, all drive train components must be 91-03 (5-speed) style. *Charging and ignition systems are not included. Builder must supply 91-03 style charging system parts. Stock igni- tion systems for 86-06 XL Sportsters can be used, but S&S recommends that a good aftermarket system is used to achieve best horsepower. *Includes oil pump & oil filter mount. XL Sportster 931068 100" (1647cc) 4" bore x 4" stroke. 10.3:1CR. 931068 S&S, 36-99 BIG TWIN CRANKCASES S&S Superstock™ crankcases, made from 356-T6 aluminum, are much stronger than the OEM case. OEM cases can/may break in high performance or even stock ap- pl i- c a - tions, like more than a few of us found out the hard way. These S&S Super- stock™ cases can be used for both stock replacement and racing applications. Important to the engine builder are the substantial savings in labor when using S&S cases. These cases come 'set up' with sprocket shaft Timken main bearing races and cam needle bearings installed and pinion shaft main bearing race pressed in and line-honed. Additional parts that are supplied include Timken sprocket shaft bearings, cylinder studs, nickel plated case bolts, crankcase fittings, oil pressure sensor, timing & magnetic crankcase drain plugs and a special S&S design alternator stator plug clamp screw. The flywheel scrapers a r e machined to match the original 8-1/2" diameter flywheels. Some stroker kits require 8-1/4" small di- ameter flywheels, for which special cases are required. S&S cases maximize crankcase oil scavenging efficiency by using a 'ported' design breather passageway. The 36-72 S&S oil pump (MCS 519922) can be used with all 36-69 S&S crankcases. The aluminum H-D oil pump, (26190-73) or the S&S oil pump, MCS 519923, can be used in 70-91 applications. For 92-99 crankcases a 92-99 OEM (26053-92) or S&S (MCS 519924) oil pump must be used. S&S cases are clearanced up to and including 5", no additional clearancing for strokers will be necessary. S&S cases come complete with assembly instructions. Note 1: S&S generator and alternator/generator combination cases (used with S&S 36-72 style pump, available as MCS 519922) are available on Special Order base. Note 2: Crankcases for 36-54 Knuckle and Panhead models will not take OEM flywheels, pinion or sprocket shaft since late style (1955-up) Timken bearings are used in all S&S cases. 55-up shafts will not fit 36-54 OEM flywheels, S&S does not recommend machining 36-54 flywheels to take 55-up shafts. For all 36-55 B.T. applications 58-81 (MCS 512404) pinion & 55-64 (MCS 512401) splined sprocket shafts can be used with S&S flywheels, which all have a 6° shaft taper with keyway.
