These clutch rods are made from long wearing 4140 material. The adjusting screw side of the rod has been heat treated for maximum strength. Until early 1984 all 4-speed Big Twin transmissions had a one-piece clutch rod. Late 1984 this was changed into a three-piece design as introduced in 1979 on the first 5-speed Harley's.
